My Blog List

Lucky 7

I have a full recap coming from my American Idol adventure (when I get home and can upload the pics) but first I was tagged by Morgan to list seven interesting things about myself....here we go!

1) I went to 13 years of Catholic school. Some would call this torture, but I in fact loved it! I have the same friends since Kindergarten (a few of them at least) and I think I just needed that kind of structure in my life. Don't get me wrong, I had my rebellious days, but nothing ever worse than sneaking booze, lying to my parents about my plans for the evening, and dating boys that were "too old" for me (my husband is 31, I'm 23 lol.)

2) Right now I work as an administrative assistant to 5 financial advisors in an independent branch of Raymond James. I've been in the working world for a full year since graduating from the University of Florida (GO GATORS!) and let me tell you, getting into financial services at THIS off all economic times, has been...well...interesting. Is this what I want to do for the rest of my life? Not really. Ideally I would like to be a stay at home mom (I know feminists everywhere are rolling their eyes) but to be honest I just have never been all that career driven. My whole life people have told me how smart I am, and how much I can accomplish, and I think I have worked so hard at school to prove them correct. I got a good job out of college and I am thankful for that. the rest I can figure out later.

3) My parents have been married for 40 years and my hubbie's parents have been married for 45. All of our siblings are happily married with children, and no one in our immediate families has ever been divorced. Needless to say Catholics don't really believe in it.

4) I think about food 24-7!! I don't know if stumbling upon the blog world helped this situation. Now I find myself reading food blogs non-stop. I never had any sort of concept of being "over weight". I played sports my whole life (basketball for 12 years, among countless other sports growing up) and never had to worry about staying in shape. I ate whatever I wanted, when I wanted, and never gave it a second thought. My freshman year of college I ended up gaining about the "freshman 10". I could have cared less...to me I just saw my boobs getting bigger (score!). It wasn't until I moved in with a new roommate my sophomore year that everything changed. She was over weight--160 lbs at 5'3''--and decided to go back on weight watchers. I figured, what the heck? Might as well do it with her. Not exercising at all I went from about 156 to 141 in a couple of months. I was hooked. Points became my life!

Ever since I find myself gaining and losing the same 15ish pounds battling between loving how I look at 140, but hating how much I have to sacrifice. Every time I end up losing the weight I inevitably gain it back by drinking and partying too much (which leads to too much drink food/hangover food, etc.). Somewhere along the way I got back into an exercise regimen and loved I felt when I was. I can say with certainty I have worked at at least 3 days (usually 4-6) for the last four years. In the last 3 months I have really struggled with figuring out how to stop the yo-yo cycle, live a normal social life, and still maintain at a weight I am comfortable at (without depriving myself).

5) My hubbie is 6'5'', 240 lbs and played college football at Brown University (yeah he's an ivy leagues snob). He grew up in the 'burbs of Chicago and we got engaged at a Chicago Bears tailgate. Some girls would hate that, but I LOVED it and it was such a perfect day. In the 5 years we have been together we have been to Chi-town about twice a year to see his family and friends that still live there.

6) I am 6' tall and taller than my older brother and older sister. There are four kids in my family: Older brother (31), older sister (26), me (23), and my younger brother (21). My parents got married at 21 and 22 but didn't start having kids til 30. She had my brother (an accident hehe) at 40!

7) I am kind of a slob. Right now my bathroom has make-up strewn all over the counters, red hairs on the floor (I can't help it I shed like a dog!) and there are clothes all over my bedroom. I am pretty good about keeping the kitchen clean (maybe this goes along with my love for food) but I am so lazy when it comes to picking up after myself! My hubbie is rather neat though which makes for a good match ;) I always end up cleaning on the weekend when I can't take it anymore, but I really hate doing this too. My mom claims she is "allergic" to cleaning products so we had a maid come once a week to clean our house (which she still does to this day).

Wow now that you all know way more than you wanted to I will get back to work. Since the hubs and I have no plans tonight I will do a fun post later with all my Idol pics and details. Til later! o and TGIF!
